A simple conversation between a mother and child. Children can be wonderful teachers.
A friend found this attack on innocence — the boy and the animals he likes standing up — in a defensively worded “pro-beef” blog:
A Fresh New Spokesman for the Vegetarian Argument
Humans develop emotion before they develop intellect. Interestingly, while we suspect this kid was trained for the bit, it’s clear his brain is able to grasp and regurgitate the entire HSUS-PETA intellectual argument. It’s good to know that NPR is working hard to keep the vegan debate alive. Keep those pledges coming.

My question: since when did HSUS or PETA have any intellectual standing in the animal rights or even animal welfare community?
As for NPR, they’re off my “listen-to” list ever since they featured a female matador in a treacly ode to the “tradition”/”sport”/”culture” of murdering bulls.
This sentiment suffices when faced by a brainwashed carnist — the timeless words uttered 100 years by Count Leo Tolstoy in his masterpiece ANNA KARENINA: “Hypocrisy in anything whatever may deceive the cleverest and most penetrating man, but the least wide-awake of children recognizes it, and is revolted by it, however ingeniously it may be disguised.”
Luiz Antonio obviously recognizes hypocrisy and is revolted by it. No wonder that the gentle, simple, heartfelt way he expresses his objection is touching hearts the world over.
And speaking of hearts, this quote from American original Mary Baker Eddy (who passed from this earth just days after Tolstoy) comes to mind: “When the heart speaks, however simple the words, its language is always acceptable to those who have hearts.”
